Program:
arrival of the participants to the city of Bassano and
meeting with the guide. The visit begins from the boundary
walls erected to
defence the city from the continuous barbarians incursions.
Two boundary walls protect the castle. You will see the
door of Bassano, the door of the priests, the door of
the ship-boys, the churches of S. Bonaventura, Saint Johan
and Saint Francis, the door of capuchins, Garibaldi square.
Important pause on the Bridge of Bassano, called also
Alpines Bridge. The plan is by Palladio. It is entire
in wood, but was modified until 1571. It was destroyed
many times by the floods of the river and the bombardments.
In 1948 it was called the Alpines Bridge for their contribution
to its the reconstruction. Pause in the main street to
admire the local handicraft shops and to taste the aperitif
of the bridge. Possible visit to the museum of the ceramics.

In the early afternoon arrival to the wall
town of Marostica. Entrance to the inferior
castle from the Vicenza door and first contact with the
Chessboard. Possible visit to the museum of the customs
of the game of chess. Continuation to the Castle square
towards the Doglione Palace, corso Mazzini with its porches,
visit to the Sain Anton church, Casa Longobarda, the Carmini
church until the carmini. Possible walk on a road that
leads to
the high castle in order to admire the panorama. Free
time in order to return to the Vicenza door walking along
the external walls. Transfer to a distillery of grappa
in order to admire the production processes and aging.
The original nineteenth-century distilleries have been
splendidly restored.
Return to the place of departure and end of the excursion. |
