Asolo, Castelfranco Veneto, Bassano del Grappa

Asolo: small jewel set among Grappa’s degrading hills, valued and embellished by Caterina Cornaro who obtained its lordship. It offers to the tourist medieval views, Venetian architectures, memories of great writers and artists.

Castelfranco Veneto: quadrilateral fortification erected by the city of Treviso in strategic position on the left of the torrent Muson in the late XII century; today is a trade and industrial centre of relief.

Bassano del Grappa:
situated to the stratums of the mount Grappa where the river Brenta ends up in the Padana Plain. Inhabited since the pre historical age, the settlement spread out on both the river’s banks,
connected thanks to the historical Ponte Vecchio and the modern Ponte della Vittoria.
Program:
in the morning, departure for Asolo: the Dome with artworks of Lorenzo Lotto, Jacopo da Bassano, Vivarini, the Civic Museum, the Loggia of Capitan of ‘400 with archaeological section, the picture-gallery and memories of Eleonora Duse. Little far away, the famous villa Barbaro of Palladio. Lunch in restaurant with typical menu.

In the afternoon visit to Castelfranco Veneto: the Dome of F.M Preti with Giorgione altarpiece. Giorgione’s house with the fresco of the liberal and mechanical arts attributed to the same artist. The academic theatre of F.M. Preti, one of the most beautiful and original Italian theatres. Nearby Villa Revedin-Bolasco and Palladio’s masterpiece Villa Emo.

End of the excursion with a walk in Bassano and return.
