Cittadella
 

Cittadella is an important street node from the first roman settlements. It is a fortified city of elliptical shape with twelve towers, sixteen “torresini” and four doors.

Program:
meeting of the participants in the agreed place and departure for the city of Cittadella.
Arrival in Cittadella and meeting with the guide to Porta Bassanese. Beginning of the walk along the patrol way, visit to the walls of
Cittadella to a height of 14 meters in order to admire the structure of the fortification system. Arrived to the Malta tower (terrible prison) you will have the possibility to admire the archaeological museum. Visit to the Dome and to the eighteenth-century sacristy. Inside of the bell tower possible visit to the Dome’s museum. Continuation to Palazzo Pretorio
and the Social Theatre. Short walk in the main street. Lunch in restaurant with typical menù.

In the early afternoon visit to the Onara marsh’ park. It is a naturalistic site through the river Tergola characterized by 4 types of habitat: the narrow channels of water-drainage, the peaty meadows, humid meadows and the hydrophilic forests. Thanks
to the temperature of waters, a microclimate has been created that favours the permanence of many animal species and the taking root of vegetations pressed elsewhere. Transfer to Piazzola sul Brenta in order to visit Villa Contarini. Risen in the sixteenth-century on the foundations of an ancient castle, it was finished in the seventeenth-century by the
Serenissima’s proxy. Visit to Palazzo Nobile, the gardens, the channels that encircle the villa and the public square of the market. Possible visit to a wine cellar with tasting.
End of the excursion and return of the participants.
