Program:
arrival of the participants in Longarone at 9.30 in the
morning and encounter with the companion. Panoramic visit
of Longarone and
of the Vajont dam. Continuation to Monte Rite. Arrival
to Passo Cibiana.
Climb to the top of Monte Rite (2181 m) with a nine places
jeep (time of distance 15 minutes). Lunch with typical
menù in the alpine refuge Dolomites at the top
of the mountain.
In the early afternoon free time to walk and to enjoy
a shocking panoramic sight of the most beautiful mountains:
Agner, Pelmo, Antelao, Civetta, Marmolada, Cristallo,
Lagazuoi, Tofane and Marmarole. You could admire
the wonderful Dolomiti valleys: Cadore, Cortina d’Ampezzo,
Zoldo valley.
We will continue for the visit to the Clouds Museum. The
structure of a first world war fort has been reconverted
in the higher museum of Europe; the international mountain
museum was built by Reinhold Messner. |
A distance of relics, sculptures, and above all pictures
reconstruct the evolution of the relationship between
the man and the Dolomiti mountains from the end of ‘700
to nowadays. Descent with the jeep from Monte Rite. Visit
to
Cibiana, a small mountain village that can be considered
a open sky picturegallery.
Fifty murals, painted by artists and painters of world-wide
reputation, adorn the houses of the ancient country telling
their history: the house of the blacksmith, the miller,
the charcoal burner. It is the suffered history of a population
that lived of hardships but it did not abandon the poor,
miser but beautiful earth
of the fathers. Departure to Pieve di Cadore, the historical
chief town of Cadore. Walk in the historical centre. Possibility
to visit the Glasses
museum. End and return to the departure point. |
